I finished This Totally Bites (Poison Apple #2) by Ruth Ames and it didn’t SUCK! (Vampire pun intended). In fact, I really enjoyed it much more than the zombie book I read prior.
Twelve-year-old Emma-Rose Paley has always felt different from her bubbly, outgoing parents. Unlike them, Emma-Rose has pale skin and jet-black hair, is quiet and moody, and prefers gray weather to sunshine. She also hates the taste of garlic, has very sharp incisors, and loves rare burgers. When Emma-Rose uncovers a dark family secret, she has a sudden revelation. Could Emma-Rose be a real, live vampire?
My biggest peeve with this book was SPOILER ALERT ……. Emma-Rose ends up not being a vampire after all but it’s a fun ride trying to figure out if she is or isn’t. Her ups and downs at school including student council and trying to figure out her crush, it’s an adorable story including family, friends and vampires; oh my!
I recommend this read and will try to sink my teeth into another Poison Apple book in the future.
